January 25 - 29

 Carnaval Next Week Next week we start our Carnaval Celebration at school. We have some great events planned and we need your help with a few things.  Starting February 1 until February 10, please ensure that your child is dressed to be outside  for longer periods of time. Many of our activities will be outside If you are able, we would love for you to begin preparing some frozen ice blocks using 2L cardboard milk jugs (we will be doing an ice palace design challenge) more details will follow through school messenger please do not send in until you receive the school messenger Mapping "The grade 4s had to trace an Alberta map and added all the lines and dots with plasticine." Dorela "The grade 3s worked with Mrs. Glowackie and we got a tiny map. We had to split our journal page into three sections and we glued our map into our visual journal." Son "The grade 3s had to get a text book and study all the regions in Peru, Ukraine, India and Tunisia." Charlie

A quick note to parents and families: Unfortunately, due to Covid restrictions this year, we will not be able to exchange Valentines cards. The staff is working on an alternative plan for students to participate in around that date that can be done at school. Thank you for your understanding. Shapes "Mrs. Cropper gave us some paper with two shapes that we needed to cut out and decorate." Son "We got shape nets and got to fold them into their 3D shapes." William Fitness Monopoly "In fitness Monopoly we each had teams and one person from each team had to get a white board and marker. Every time you went past go you could put a tally mark on your white board and whoever had the most tally marks won." Pajama Day

  Pajama Day This Thursday, January 14 we will be having pajama day as our spirit day, by popular vote. You may wear pajamas to school if you choose. Please remember that with current restrictions, stuffies are not allowed at school.

Writing "We did writing. Writing about our winter vacation." Evelyn "In writing, this week we started a book called "The One and Only Ivan" and we read it for the whole week. After we read it each day we did a retell of the story." Mila "We also did some word work. There was a couple of letters and they were scrambled and we had to try to make some words from the letters." Son Math "We were working with shapes and patterns and we had to use shapes to make a pattern. and we had to write about it." Makena "We did patterns with some blocks and we could change colour and make it big or small." Evelyn "In math, we needed to find the meaning of 5 words which were congruent, symmetrical, face, vertex and side." Son "We had to make triangle with one dot in the middle and we had to find different ways to make the triangles so there would still be one dot in it."
