  • Festive Wear Week: December 14-17 students are invited to wear festive clothes or hats at school.
  • Winter Celebration: December 16th we will be sharing our Winter Celebration school wide.
  • Pajama Day: December 17th, students are invited to wear pajamas to school for the last day before Winter Break.

Locked Room

"Mrs. Glowacki made a survey for us that was a locked room. It was about ecosystems and you had to find all the answers to get out of the locked room." Jake

"There were six rooms and we learned about the ecosystem while doing the locked room." Sam

"We had a digital locked room and there were different types of locks like the colour lock. And we got information from the videos and what we read to figure out what colours and write them in the answer box." Dorela



Artifact Stories

"We each got a different artifact and we were in groups of two and there were grade 3 groups and grade 4 groups. It was on the computer and we had to write something about the artifacts and how they were connected using geography, and on the computer." Makena

"We needed to type in the speaker notes and we did this in Google Slides." Son



Graphing and Surveys

"For the surveys we had to put a title and you could do what is your favourite pet or colour or something like that. You could put down your choices and you had to share with other people in the classroom." Evelyn

"We had to go into our grade 3 or 4 folder and create a Google Forms. And there was the survey ready to go so we just had to put in our options and our title. After we had to go to our GMail and we had to check our responses and see which one got more votes." Charlie

Art

"We drew a picture of the land and then we used cross hatching. After when we were done we used water colours." Tally

"We did the cross hatching and we drew a rough copy in our visual journals and the after we did it on art paper. We had to draw the same thing that was in our visual journal and sketch it with Sharpie and a pen and after we used water colour for the sky." Mila

  Upcoming Dates Grade 4  Health lessons begin next week Grade 4  June 17 - Walk to TMC June 18 - Fun Treat Day (Order by June 11) Design Challenge Grade 3 and 4 have been working on a design challenge to wrap up our work with building and testing. They are working in groups and given a scenario about a crisis in a community (Peru, India, Ukraine, Tunisia) that effects the quality of life of its citizens. Each scenario involves needing to get people across a body of water to access community supports. They worked together on initial research and brainstorming of options. Next they split into grade groups and were assigned a specific set of criteria for their design. Grade 3s will be designing a bridge and grade 4s will be designing a machine with gears and pulleys.  Seed Research We also started a research project this week around seeds. Students are working in groups to learn about a specific food product that is exported by Peru, India, Ukraine and Tunisia. Grade 4 students are focus

  Upcoming Events May 5 - Hats on for Mental Health. Wear a hat to show your support for mental health (no silly hats please) May 7 - Last Sound Kreations Hearing and Sound Grade 3 students have been working with Mrs. Glowacki to design instruments. Students have been hard at work creating their masterpieces. Their final instrument needs to change pitch and volume. French Grade 4 students have been working on learning about seasons and weather. They have begun putting together statements to answer questions about what the weather is like in each season. "Quel temp fait il en hiver? Il fait froid." Math Students are wrapping up an exploration of fractions with some work with Cuisinaire Rods. Students created pictures last week and calculated the value, and this week returned to their picture to look at the fractions connected to rod's value.  We also started work around measurement by discussing different types of measurements, units of measurement and tools used to measur

Writing "We did writing. Writing about our winter vacation." Evelyn "In writing, this week we started a book called "The One and Only Ivan" and we read it for the whole week. After we read it each day we did a retell of the story." Mila "We also did some word work. There was a couple of letters and they were scrambled and we had to try to make some words from the letters." Son Math "We were working with shapes and patterns and we had to use shapes to make a pattern. and we had to write about it." Makena "We did patterns with some blocks and we could change colour and make it big or small." Evelyn "In math, we needed to find the meaning of 5 words which were congruent, symmetrical, face, vertex and side."
