Math

This week we moved onto subtraction in math. We looked at using Base Ten blocks as a strategy for solving problems. We were able to represent borrowing and regrouping with the blocks to find the solutions.

Take Me Outside

This week we celebrated "Take Me Outside" day by going outside twice. We played a full class soccer game and built snow structures in the snow. This has been a great year for getting outside and learning in different ways.

Social Studies

We have started to explore the idea of quality of life. We brainstormed things that would impact our quality of life like education, healthcare, transportation, government, food, water, shelter and jobs. We reflected on our own quality of life to see how all the pieces fit together to make us feel safe and secure.

Art

We are starting to explore colour and how we can use it intentionally to share messages and emotion in our art. We started with learning about the colour wheel today.

Text Features

We started to look at text features that you can find in non-fiction texts. We watched a video about what they are and why they are important. Next we created an imaginary book as a class, but only wrote the text features. Students then created their own non-fiction text features on a book they made up.
