Coulee Trip (Sept. 29)

This past week we took our first trip to the coulee. When we arrived we read through the Acknowledgement of the Land. We split into some smaller groups for our exploration.  The grade 4s talked about the purpose of the Acknowledgement and began to look for things on the land that are a value to us and compared them with things that communities is the far past would have valued on the same land. Grade 3s explored the Porcupine rock formation and looked at different sedimentary rock formations that can be found all through the coulee. They talked about the rock cycle and aspects of sedimentary rocks.

 Sound Kreations "There was an instructor names Mr. Moises and he taught us some dance moves. Today we did all of them in the song" Sam "We had a dance instructor and he taught some dance moves." Quinn Fractions "We did a word problem how we can split 1-10 fractions into 1/2. All the ones in the middle were the answer." Charlie "We got into groups and we had to figure out some fractions that were equivalent." Dorela  Cuisinaire Rods "We each got a group and we had these Cuisinaire rods which are like ten rods but they are 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. We had to make a picture with them then we had to count up what the value was all together.   Upcoming Events February 24th - Pink Shirt Day February 24th - Virtual Celebration of Learning, on Google Classroom Multiplication "When we're doing multiplication we learned how to make arrays as strategies. An array is like a picture for example, 3 X 5 is 3 rows of 5." Son "We did multiplication centres in the library and we worked in partners to do everything that it said to do. There was one that said to do the times tables for a specific number.
